Questions And Answers.
Q: What is the quickest lead time you can offer for CNC machining?
A:For small scale CNC projects in Al6061 we can manufacture in as little as 2 days as we have the material readily available in-house.
Q: How long does it take to get a CNC machining quote?
A:For most CNC machining projects we aim to get a quote back to you within 24h. However, if you submit a quote in the morning we can sometimes provide a quote the same day.
Q: What file formats do you accept for CNC machining?
A:We accept 3D CAD files in STEP, IGS or Parasolid format for CNC machining. We cannot use STL CAD files.
If you don’t have a 3D CAD file yet, we recommend designing in OnShape as it is free and sometimes easy to use. The other option is to find a freelance design engineer to help produce the CAD file for you. We can recommend someone if you require help.
Q: What are the best tolerances you can CNC machine to?
A:CNC machining: ± 0.05 mm
CNC Turning: ± 0.02 mm
Q: How do I get a CNC machining quote?
A:The quickest way is to fill out our online quote form. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss your project before submitting a quote, feel free to email our engineers at sales-1@hongsinn.com

CNC machining: ± 0.05 mm CNC Turning: ± 0.02 mm How much thickness does anodising add?
A:Type II is the standard variation of anodising and clear coatings typically have a thickness of 5-15 μm and coloured/dyed coatings 10-25 μm.
Type III anodising also known as 'hard anodising’ can have a thickness of 20-80 μm.
A good design guideline to follow is that 50% of the anodic coating is below the original surface and 50% is above. Therefore, a 12 μm coating would increase the part thickness by 6 μm.
Q: How to choose a CNC machining manufacturer for parts processing?
A:When choosing a CNC machining manufacturer for parts processing, it's crucial to consider their experience, technology, and capacity to meet your specific needs. Look for a provider with a proven track record of precision, timely delivery, and the ability to handle the complexity of your project.
Q:How much does it cost to 3D a part?
A:Small MJF 3D printed parts like gears, brackets, or clips range from £15 to £50. Medium-sized components, such as functional prototypes, can cost between £50 to £200. For large MJF 3D printed parts, like automotive components and medical devices, the total cost is upwards of £200.
