Advantages of CNC Plastic Machining
Our extensive experience in plastic part design and machining enables us to fully understand the specific requirements of various industries and to take on any plastic machining challenge. Our team of experts is equipped with state-of-the-art CNC machining equipment and is able to perform many different types of machining processes to develop the best manufacturing plan for your plastic parts.
When setting up a CNC plastic block, it is important to remember that plastic is not the same as metal. If you apply too much force when clamping the blank, it will easily leave noticeable marks on the surface. In fact, too much force can cause the part to break.
Choosing the best cutting tool for plastic parts is a complex task. This is because the composition of plastics and composites varies greatly. Some plastics may be reinforced with carbide particles or contain additives that enhance properties such as flexibility and heat resistance.

Cutting process
Take CNC milling of plastic housing as an example. There are several key issues to pay attention to when choosing a plastic cutting process: mainly excessive friction and plastic deformation of the parts. To avoid these problems, it is important to keep the knife sharp during the cutting process. If the material used is not hard enough, you can consider freezing it. However, it should be noted that plastic may become harder and more brittle at low temperatures.
To prevent chips from melting and sticking to CNC plastic parts, the tool needs to be kept moving and not stay in the same position for too long. Chips should be removed as quickly as possible. Therefore, larger and more aggressive tools should be selected for plastics. When the feed rate is higher, the spindle speed should also be increased accordingly. As a rough estimate, the feed rate and corresponding cutting speed for plastics should be 3 times that of aluminum.
