Electroless Nickel Plating Services

Electroless nickel plating is a process that deposits a nickel-phosphorus alloy onto a metal surface through a chemical reaction. This process is entirely chemical and therefore requires no electricity.

Electroless nickel plating is a wear-, galling-, and corrosion-resistant surface treatment suitable for materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel. The following are the steps for applying electroless nickel plating:

Cleaning and Degreasing: First, the part is thoroughly cleaned to remove any contaminants and grease. After cleaning, the substrate is activated using an acidic chemical to remove oxides and prepare the surface.

Immersing the part in the chemical solution: The part is immersed in the plating chemical solution, which deposits the nickel-phosphorus alloy evenly onto the surface until the desired thickness is achieved.

What is the difference between electroplating and chemical nickel plating?

Electroplating relies on an electric current to form the coating, while chemical nickel plating deposits the coating through a chemical reaction.

Materials Suitable for Electroless Nickel Plating

Electroless nickel plating can be applied to a variety of materials. The following are some of the most popular materials used by our customers:

Aluminum: Widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries due to its lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties.

Stainless steel: Offers excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for medical and food processing equipment.

Mild carbon steel: Electroless nickel plating enhances wear resistance and corrosion protection and is commonly used in mechanical components.

Copper and copper alloys: Enhance electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for electronic components.
