Welding Copper, Stainless & Sheet Metal Services

What is sheet metal welding?

Sheet metal welding is a widely used manufacturing process that fuses thin sheets of metal together at extremely high temperatures. During cooling, the weld joint hardens, forming a permanent structure.
The specific process for welding metal sheets varies depending on the type of metal used and the intended application. At Hongsinn, we use two common welding techniques: TIG welding and MIG welding.

What is TIG welding?

TIG welding stands for"Tungsten Inert Gas,"also known as gas tungsten arc welding. This welding process uses non-consumable tungsten electrodes to heat the metal via an arc, with a protective atmosphere provided by an inert gas such as argon. If filler metal is required, a filler rod or a cut piece of the same metal being welded can be used.
During welding, a direct current is used, the electrode carries a negative charge, and the metal carries a positive charge. This setup helps prevent the electrode from overheating and melting. Compared to MIG welding, TIG welding is a more complex process. Welders need to spend more time mastering the required skills, but once proficient, they can perform more delicate welding tasks and achieve excellent results. For thin-gauge metals, TIG welding is often the preferred choice.

What is MIG Welding?

MIG welding is similar to TIG welding, but MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding uses consumable electrodes, such as copper-plated coils. During the process, additional heat is generated through reverse charging, making the electrodes negatively charged and the metal plate positively charged. This additional heat causes the electrodes to melt rapidly.
Like TIG welding, argon gas acts as a protective layer to isolate the metal from the atmosphere. It can be said that MIG welding is “easier” than TIG welding because the molten wire can be applied and melted quickly, allowing welders to complete the work faster. Therefore, while MIG welding is not suitable for delicate welding projects, it is extremely important for jobs that require speed and cost-effectiveness.
Regardless of the welding process used, high-quality workmanship is always one of our primary goals. We only use high-performance welding equipment from brands such as Jasic and Cebora. Our welding technicians are highly skilled and capable of handling a wide range of customer challenges. We also ensure that all consumables and accessories are sourced from reliable and accredited suppliers to guarantee that our work is not affected by cheap or defective materials.
